Established in 1991 with support from the Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City, the Health Services of Ho Chi Minh City and the Wellcome Trust, OUCRU has developed strong links not only with HTD, but also other hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and other regions of Vietnam. In February 2006, an OUCRU office in Hanoi was opened, and it currently supports more than 15 staff.
OUCRU actively recruits PhD students with backgrounds in microbiology, molecular biology, epidemiology, medicine, statistics, mathematics, and computer science. Students in our four-year PhD program receive doctoral degrees from the University of Oxford or Open University in the United Kingdom.
