About

Thanh began to work as a study doctor in the CNS/HIV Group. After graduating from the University of Pharmacy and Medicine, Ho Chi Minh City in 2009, he achieved a grant to attend a training course in Pediatrics and Obstetrics in Sweden funded by the Swedish government. He has approximately ten-years experience in pediatrics, tropical diseases and HIV treatment. Moreover, he has attended numerous HIV-associated studies at the Children Hospital 2 in collaboration with amFARCDCANRS.

Dr Thanh has attended many training courses in epidemiology, biostatistics and designing clinical research at:

  • Pham Ngoc Thach University in 2009
  • UC Berkeley – California in 2010
  • University of San Francisco (UCSF) in 2012
  • Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU), Ho Chi Minh City in 2014, and
  • Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU), Bangkok in 2017.

Thanh started working in CNS/HIV group in November, 2012, participating in IVAP (A Trial of Itraconazole or Amphotericin B for HIV-Associated Talaromycosis). In 2018, he attended the final round of Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellowship for young researcher. His long-term aspiration is to become a clinician scientist in Vietnam who conducts clinical studies which can promote the well-being of patients, with a focus on improving the outcomes of HIV-infected patients.
