Background | The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) is a large-scale clinical and public health research unit, with sites offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, Jakarta in Indonesia and Kathmandu in Nepal. In Vietnam, we are hosted by the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Hanoi. OUCRU Nepal has partnerships with the Patan Academy of Health Sciences and Patan Hospital, and OUCRU Indonesia exists in partnership with the University of Indonesia. As a Wellcome Trust Africa Asia Programme, we have received considerable support from the Wellcome Trust since our establishment in 1991. OUCRU’s vision is to have local, regional and global impact on health by leading a locally driven research programme on infectious diseases in Southeast Asia. Priority is given to health issues important to the hospitals where we work, and to the countries as a whole where we operate: Vietnam, Indonesia and Nepal. Job summary | The Data Programmer is a member of the Data Management team responsible for the gathering requirement, design, construction, integration, testing, verification and maintenance of required applications including clinical data management system, window-based and web-based applications. In addition, the post provides support for CliRes (in-house web-based applications for clinical trials) for multiple sites in within Vietnam and international roll-out. |
Key responsibilities and tasks | Software Design – Responsible to establish all possible options for designing and deriving the best solutions based on sound analytical judgment, team input and the users’ best interest. – Research new technologies that push the boundaries and capabilities of design and provide insight on applying these to Accelerant’s product offerings. – Accountable for optimization-focused design to ensure that all code is written with high-availability and high-impact; Accountable for efficiency-focused design that serves to ensure that all code is highly reusable and modular. – Author technical design documentation that fully defines all application code and the underlying methodology for the design decisions made. Software Development – Develop software according to functional and technical design specifications and maintain a “common sense” approach that serves to recognize potential design gaps and provide insight into closing them. – Create efficient, scalable, reusable middle tier logic using any of ASP.NET, VB.NET, Classic ASP, XML, C#, and other languages as needed. – Create intuitive, logical and dynamic user interfaces using HTML,HTML5, JavaScript, XSL, EXTJS and AJAX. – Create and design databases, views, stored procedures, T-SQL statements and user-defined functions of varying complexity with a “best practices” approach to keys, indices and relationships in SQL Server 2008/2012. Experience using typed-datasets is critical. – Manage Windows 2008/2012 Server, IIS, COM+ and SQL Server 2008/2012 with regards to administration and performance tuning. – Assist in continual improvement of software configuration management process. Dedicated Data Manager for clinical trial projects that supports – Designing the Case Report Form (questionnaire, data collection forms) – Develop databases on CliRes platform – Specific programming for study databases on CliRes platform – Technical support for study staff at multiple sites on using CliRes platform Maintenance and other roles – Assess, troubleshoot, document, upgrade and develop maintenance procedures; – – Review code for potential performance issues, reusability, and/or anomalies. – Detail unit testing of code. – Troubleshoot client problems both remotely and onsite. – Research and identify cause of reported defects and issues. – Develop patches and defect fixes. – Perform and assist with quality assurance activities as needed. – Participate in training and / or customer support activities as needed. – Other duties may be assigned. |
Selection criteria | Essential criteria – BSc in computer science, computer engineering, information system or biostatistics – Having programming experience in C#, ASP.Net or .NET Core, JavaScript, PHP or other equivalent programming languages. – Having database experience in MS SQL Server, MySQL, MS Access, and PostgreSQL. – Analytical problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, self-initiative, attention to detail – Team player, organized, disciplined and mature – Keen on self-development – Good English communication skills (IELTS equivalent 5.5) Desirable criteria – Strong knowledge and experience in clinical data management, Good Clinical Practice, CFR 21 Part 11, Good Clinical Data Management Practice – Be able to understand and writing: SRS, SDD – Strong motivation to apply software development in clinical research – Experience in HTML5, CSS3, DOM, UI frameworks & libs (Bootstrap, Material …) – Ability to meet challenging milestones |
Benefits | – Salary packages: * Grade: RS3/IC3, Point: 6 – 8 * Salary ranges: $ 1,335 – $ 1,626 gross per month – Optional insurance: In-patient and out-patient medical coverage; Personal accident insurance coverage – Two months salary for annual bonus and clothes – Annual leave 18 days/year for the first year, a maximum of 30 days – Other responsibilities and benefits are based on Viet Nam Labor Law. |
