BackgroundThe Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) is a large-scale clinical and public health research unit, with sites offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, Jakarta in Indonesia and Kathmandu in Nepal. In Vietnam, we are hosted by the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Hanoi. OUCRU Nepal has partnerships with the Patan Academy of Health Sciences and Patan Hospital, and OUCRU Indonesia exists in partnership with the University of Indonesia. As a Wellcome Trust Africa Asia Programme, we have received considerable support from the Wellcome Trust since our establishment in 1991.
OUCRU’s vision is to have local, regional and global impact on health by leading a locally driven research programme on infectious diseases in Southeast Asia. Priority is given to health issues important to the hospitals where we work, and to the countries as a whole where we operate: Vietnam, Indonesia and Nepal.  All work is intended not only to benefit the patients seen daily at our host hospitals, but also to help improve patient care.
OUCRU employs approximately 320 people across Viet Nam and has an average annual budget of USD 12mil.

Job summaryIn collaboration with the University of Oxford, MORU, Menzies, and partnering with the Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology Quy Nhon (IMPE_QN) and National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology (NIMPE) in Vietnam, OUCRU join conducting several regional projects to monitor drug resistance in malaria parasites, the asymptomatic malaria and sero-surveillance to provide timely quality information to support the National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs) in policy decisions of control and elimination malaria.

The role of the Research Coordinator is primarily to ensure the efficient enrollment of patients/participants, sample collection activities at the study sites, and manage expenditure reimbursement to study sites. This will involve frequent site visits (2 trips/month), communications with the study site collaborators (in 14 malaria provinces).

The candidate will work for the ongoing GenRe Mekong project and follow by one upcoming malaria pilot study.
Key responsibilities and tasks– Adhere to the study protocol and study procedures manual, ensure sites comply with protocol and GCP requirements.
– Track and report the studies progress to supervisor and PIs as required.
– Communicate with study sites ( in person, by email or social media) frequently to identify problems and support problem solving.
– Organise, conduct site visits, site training as per relevant study plan.
– Coordinate logistical aspects (eg ethical approvals, import permits, contracts,..),
– Manage expenditure reimbursement to the study sites
– Complete reports accurately and within the specified timelines
– Contribute to development of Research SOPs, CRFs
– Verify the quality, accuracy, completion and timeliness of data. Completely and efficiently resolve data and audit queries and issues
– Other support tasks as required
Selection criteriaEssential criteria:
Degree in Medicine, Science, Public Health or a related field
At least 2 year-experience as a research coordinator
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Honesty, cooperation in work
High level of organizational and record keeping skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to travel to malaria sites
Ability to provide technical training re. working with clinical samples
Preferred criteria:
Good English speaking and reading skills.
Familiar with computer systems particularly MS office, electronic data capture and project management systems
Experience working in a Medical Research Institution, working with multiple partners
Vaccination of Hepatitis B

– Grade: RS3/IC3
– Salary ranges: $1,092 – $1,335

Two months’ salary for annual bonus and clothes
