{"id":30967,"date":"2023-07-05T10:16:10","date_gmt":"2023-07-05T03:16:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oucru.org\/?p=30967"},"modified":"2023-07-11T11:12:02","modified_gmt":"2023-07-11T04:12:02","slug":"dr-marlous-grijsen-awarded-the-international-awards-for-social-responsibility-in-dermatology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oucru.org\/id\/dr-marlous-grijsen-awarded-the-international-awards-for-social-responsibility-in-dermatology\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Marlous Grijsen Awarded the International Award for Social Responsibility in Dermatology\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oucru.org\/people\/marlous-grijsen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dr Marlous Grijsen,<\/a> Post-doctoral Researcher at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oucru.org\/location\/oucru-indonesia\/\">OUCRU Indonesia<\/a>, was recently awarded the 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loreal.com\/en\/press-release\/commitments\/world-demartologists-awarded-by-l-oreal-groupe-and-ilds-at-world-congress-of-dermatology\/\">International Awards for Social Responsibility in Dermatology<\/a> by L\u2019Or\u00e9al, in partnership with the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) and the World Congress of Dermatology (WCD).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awards recognise dermatologists leading high-impact projects in three categories: prevention and education on skin health, improved quality of life and self-esteem for people facing skin issues, and access to care coverage and surgery.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This award recognises the efforts that OUCRU Indonesia, in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/sumbafoundation.org\/\">Sumba Foundation<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ugm.ac.id\/en\/\">Gadjah Mada University<\/a> (Yogyakarta, Indonesia), have made to launch a teledermatology service in Sumba, Indonesia. This remote and economically underdeveloped island has a high burden of skin diseases. Since its launch, the platform has trained and supported 30 health workers with the intent to treat over 600 patients with a broad range of common and neglected skin diseases. Around 10,000 patients who presented with skin diseases have since benefitted from the initiative.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each winning project is awarded a \u20ac20,000 grant to fund its continuation.
