Background
The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) is a large-scale clinical and public health research unit, with sites offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, Jakarta in Indonesia and Kathmandu in Nepal. In Vietnam, we are hosted by the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Hanoi. OUCRU Nepal closely collaborates with the National Academy of Medical Sciences in Kathmandu, and OUCRU Indonesia exists in partnership with the University of Indonesia. As a Wellcome Trust Africa Asia Programme, we have received considerable support from the Wellcome Trust since our establishment in 1991.
OUCRU’s vision is to have local, regional and global impact on health by leading a locally driven research programme on infectious diseases in Southeast Asia. Priority is given to health issues important to the hospitals where we work, and to the countries as a whole where we operate: Vietnam, Indonesia and Nepal. All work is intended not only to benefit the patients seen daily at our host hospitals, but also to help improve patient care.

Position Summary
Overall, a Research Data Associate is responsible to ensure data is collected and managed properly, and reported accurately by supporting the Data Management team in conducting quality check, query generation, training, and monitoring; preparing reports, developing data charts and other presentation materials.
Roles and responsibility (ies)
- Support Data Management Team to conduct data oversight and data management plan development
- Support the investigator and Clinical Research Coordinator on database development requirement
- Receive Case Report Forms, track the transfer of documents and the progress of data entry to study database
- Generate queries of inconsistent data or unusual data points
- Create reports of errors and missing data.
- Conduct training to Study Team and other relevant roles on study database
- Provide data management support to the clinical research team, study projects, and biostatistics team.
- Assist in defining and/or creating data listings, summary table validation, data specifications and/or process data transfers in preparation for statistical review and/or data management audit.
- In partnership with the other Data Management Team, perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on the Data management System as per the Edit Check Specifications.
- Contribute to the database launch, maintenance, and database lock under the direction of the line manager.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement and process optimization initiatives.
- Assist in the archiving of study databases and related documents.
- Ensure data system compliance by following the established guidelines of national and international regulatory authorities.
- Perform verification on data entered into the system by other Data Entry personnel, e.g. site personnel and study team.
- Perform reconciliation electronic data transfers from study site to sponsor and authorities.
- Support and escalate issues related to database use and data collection
- Other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Statistics, Public Health or Information Technology related degree and some relevant experience.
- Computer literacy and proficiency is a must.
- Ability to manage complex data sets resulting from multiple research projects.
- At least 2 years’ data management and/or related work experience
- Proficient English speaking and writing abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of organisational and record keeping skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
