Dr. Olita Shilpakar, MD, DM EM, FRCP Edin, is an Assistant Professor and Consultant Emergency Physician at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Maharajgunj Medical Campus, Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu, Nepal. She is one of the first female emergency physicians in Nepal to earn a Doctorate in Emergency Medicine, marking a significant milestone in the country’s medical history.

She is an active member of the Health and Safety Unit of OUCRU Nepal as the Occupational Health officer and conducts regular First Aid and BLS trainings, infection prevention trainings, vaccination updates and contributes to maintaining the overall health and safety regulations in the organization.

Dr. Shilpakar serves on the executive board of the Nepalese Society of Emergency Physicians (NSEP) and collaborates with the World Health Organization Nepal, the Department of Health Services, and the Ministry of Health and Population in developing national guidelines and protocols. She is a certified instructor for BLS, ACLS, and PALS by the American Heart Association, an IFEM-accredited Basic Emergency Care (BEC) Trainer, and a national trainer for the Basic Emergency Medical Technician (BEMT) course.

In addition to her clinical and educational roles, she is an executive member of the Research Department at the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, contributing to the advancement of emergency medicine research in Nepal.
