Mr Ho Van Hien is currently the Head of IT and Data Management at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU). He has over 25 years of experience in information technology and more than 17 years in clinical data management. In addition to his qualifications in IT, he holds an EMBA in Management Consulting from FHNW, the Chief Technology Officer Certification from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and the Certified Clinical Data Manager (CCDM®) credential from SCDM.

Since 2006, he has played a key role in developing clinical data management infrastructure in Viet Nam for the South East Asia Infectious Disease Clinical Research Network (SEAICRN), serving as Regional Data Manager and a member of the network’s Data Management Committee. He also designed and built CLIRES, a robust clinical trial data management system used across most OUCRU research projects. CLIRES has been adopted by the International Severe Acute Respiratory & Emerging Infections Consortium (ISARIC) for major studies such as SPRINT-SARI and the WHO Clinical Characterisation Protocol, as well as by the CRyPTIC Consortium as a core electronic data platform.

He is currently focused on enhancing clinical data management best practices and leading the development of an enterprise data warehouse (EDW) for the OUCRU Programme.
