Sarwatejas SJB Rana oversees research ethics and regulatory activities across the unit, supporting the ethical review, approval, and governance of clinical trials and other human participant research. Working closely with investigators, ethics committees, and regulatory authorities, he helps ensure compliance with national and international ethical standards. He also supports investigational medicinal product (IMP) management and pharmaceutical-related activities for clinical trials, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, ethically conducted clinical research. Alongside his current responsibilities, he has a strong interest in expanding his expertise in clinical pharmacology and pharmaceutical research to support the organisation’s evolving research portfolio
He holds a Master of Science in Pharmacology from the University of Oxford, St. Peter’s College, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Rowan University, USA, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was recognized on the Dean’s List. During his undergraduate studies, he received multiple academic scholarships, including the Rowan University International Scholarship and the Leonard A. & Seniz U. McMullen International Scholarship in Science and Engineering. He has research experience spanning pharmacology, clinical research, and biomedical sciences, including postgraduate research in cardiovascular pharmacology at the University of Oxford, clinical research exposure through a dengue-related study in Kathmandu, and research experience in organic chemistry. His work has involved laboratory-based investigations and clinical research projects, contributing to his understanding of drug mechanisms, disease processes, and translational research.
