This study aims to identify the circulating serotypes and genotypes of DENV in urban Kathmandu and investigate the clinical and laboratory characteristics of patients with confirmed dengue presenting to two referral hospitals.

This project aims to characterize the clinical and virological features of dengue virus (DENV) infection in urban Kathmandu amid the rapidly increasing burden of dengue in Nepal. Through recruitment of patients presenting to three referral hospitals over a two-year period, the study will identify circulating DENV serotypes and genotypes using RT-PCR and sequencing, while also examining clinical presentation, laboratory findings, and disease outcomes. By integrating clinical and genomic data, the project seeks to improve understanding of dengue transmission, disease severity, and viral dynamics in Nepal, supporting strengthened surveillance and future public health preparedness.
