Ms Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong joined OUCRU in June 2023 as the Laboratory Biological & Chemical Safety Officer. She brings over a decade of laboratory experience, having worked as a Research Assistant on a range of infectious disease projects. These include Hepatitis C studies at OUCRU-HCMC, Dengue fever research at Nagasaki University, and Enterovirus investigations at the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City.
In her current role, she is responsible for developing biosafety and chemical safety policies and procedures, and ensuring their consistent implementation across OUCRU HCMC’s laboratories. She works closely with the Head of Laboratories and the Lab Manager to maintain a safe and compliant research environment.
One of her key achievements has been strengthening laboratory safety practices through training, routine inspections, and the promotion of biosafety guidelines aligned with both national and international standards. Her long-term goal is to foster a proactive safety culture through risk-based strategies and continuous engagement with laboratory staff.
