OUCRU Nepal has launched UNDAUNTED, a new podcast series that shares the stories and experiences of the people behind our research. The series aims to provide insight into the diverse journeys, challenges, and achievements of OUCRU Nepal staff.
UNDAUNTED was created to give staff an opportunity to reflect on their personal and professional journeys, highlighting the experiences that have shaped them both within and beyond the workplace. Through open conversations, the series explores themes of resilience, growth, learning, and the different paths that bring people to research.
The first episode features Nishan, OUCRU Nepal’s Accounts Officer, who reflects on his journey from growing up in a remote village in Ramechhap to building a career in administration and finance. What began with caring for sheep at Patan Hospital and OUCRU Nepal eventually led him to become an important member of the administration and finance team.
In the conversation, Nishan shares memories of balancing work and education, studying while carrying out his daily responsibilities, and gradually taking on new roles as the organisation grew. He also talks about his passion for poetry, his experiences working across different departments, and the encouragement he received from colleagues that helped him develop both personally and professionally.
Throughout the episode, Nishan reflects on the value of hard work, continuous learning, and self-satisfaction. His story offers an inspiring reminder that opportunities can emerge from unexpected beginnings and that personal growth is often shaped by perseverance and support from others.
Through stories such as Nishan’s, UNDAUNTED seeks to highlight the people behind the science and the many different paths that contribute to research. The series offers an opportunity for staff to share their experiences, reflect on their journeys, and inspire others through their stories.
