Dev Raj Gautam is the Data Governance Manager at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU). He leads initiatives to strengthen data governance, privacy, information management, and responsible data use across the programme. He supports the development of governance frameworks, policies, and practices that enable high-quality, ethical use of research data aligned with the FAIR principles.
With over 16 years of experience, Dev combines expertise in governance, information security, and privacy with a technical background in software engineering, data systems, and technology delivery. He has led multidisciplinary teams delivering governance, data, and technology initiatives across research, healthcare, government, and enterprise settings, including regulated environments with strict security, privacy, and compliance requirements. His experience spans both implementation and assurance roles, giving him a practical understanding of how governance requirements can be put into practice.
He holds a Master of Science in Information Technology and Applied Security from London Metropolitan University and an MBA from Purbanchal University. He is an ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor, ISO/IEC 27701 Lead Auditor, and ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor, and has completed training in GDPR compliance.
