| Key responsibilities and tasks | Assist with Laboratory Procedures: Carry out tests, analyses, and experiments under microbiological and molecular techniques including DNA extraction/quantifications/PCR/gel runs. Sample Collection: Collect various biological specimens such as nasal swabs, and oropharyngeal swabs, as specified by study protocols. Sample Management: Ensure safe transfer, handling, and storage of samples according to established protocols to maintain integrity. Equipment Maintenance: Support in the cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure operational efficiency. Data Collection & Documentation: Gather, record, and organize both paper-based and electronic data accurately and legibly, maintaining detailed and up-to-date records in compliance with study protocols. Safety Compliance: Follow laboratory safety protocols to ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment. |
| Requirements | Essential: B.Sc. in MicrobiologyDemonstrate strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision. Proficient in microbiological and basic molecular techniques including DNA extraction, PCR. Able to prepare and maintain laboratory documents including protocols, standard operating procedures, guidelines, forms, manuals etc.Competent in the use of computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, for documentation and data management. Familiarity with laboratory safety practices. Ability to work in a team and take initiative in learning. |
