Phuong works on research projects on developing and evaluating new tests to improve the early diagnosis and treatment of human diseases.

Prior to OUCRU, she worked as a researcher at a key laboratory at Vietnam National University, participating in several projects on human diseases, including the detection of common mutations and analysis of their characteristics in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and studying the antibiotic resistance genes in pneumonia-causing bacteria, Acinetobacter baumannii.
