Dr Bidhya Sharma

Research Medical Officer

Dr Bidya has been a Research Medical Officer since 2020, focusing on ICU and ward-related randomized controlled trials and surveillance programs. She has worked on the ICU-based REGARD-VAP (Reducing Antibiotic Treatment in Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia Patients), an individualized short-course antibiotic treatment versus the usual long-course treatment for ventilator-associated pneumonia (REGARD-VAP): a multicenter, individually randomized, open-label, non-inferiority trial. Currently, she is involved in ACORN-2 (A Clinically Oriented Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network), a large-scale multicenter protocol that builds on the WHO Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System to estimate syndromic and pathogen outcomes, along with associated health economic costs. She is also working on the ACORN-HAI extension study, which focuses specifically on healthcare-associated bloodstream infections and ventilator-associated pneumonia.
